This is the accessibility statement for the First Folio website. It covers the main site at http://firstfolio.bodleian.ox.ac.uk. Other sites which are linked from the top level are not covered by this statement. Work is continuing to further improve the accessibility and usability of the site.
If you have any questions or comments about the accessibility of this site, please contact the webmaster.
Top level pages use a consistent navigation system (visually, a red bar across the top of the page under the titles.).
The majority of browsers allow access keys to be used. Some of them require a special combination of keys (called modifier), to be pressed before the access key is used. For example, if you are using Chrome, you could use Alt+0 to access this current page.
A list of the access keys used in this website and the most common browser modifiers are below:
Web Browser | Modifier |
---|---|
Google Chrome 3 and higher | Alt on Windows and Linux (Note: ⇧ Shift is required in some circumstances) Ctrl + Opt on Mac |
Firefox 2 and higher | Alt+⇧ Shift on Windows and Linux
Ctrl on Mac |
Internet Explorer | Alt - Please note that prior to IE8: Alt + Access Key focused on the element, but required ↵ Enter to be pressed in order to activate the element. This is still the case for hyperlinks in version 9. |
Opera | ⇧ Shift+Esc - Please note: the modifier key must be released before the regular key is pressed. Once the modifier key is released, browser lists the set of access keys on that page with action and user can hit the desired key. |
Safari | Ctrl in version 3, but Ctrl+⌥ Opt on versions 4 and higher for Mac
Alt for Windows |

If tables are used, they are mainly for tabular data display.
Most content images used in top level pages include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics may include null ALT attributes.
This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable. The website also uses relative font sizes, that allow text size to be changed in visual browsers.
